There is lots of discussion about the government shutdown mostly talking about the impact of the 800,000 federal employees working without pay. I am afraid that does not mean much to the average person because they have faced so many financial challenges with regular layoffs and terminations at terrible companies in the private sector.
Let's change the discussion to this narrow question: How does the government shutdown end? (What will happen that will force the two sides so firm in their belief that they will win and they are right to reach a compromise?
Here are a few ideas from my perspective: (Of course I don't want any emergency or deaths to occur but understand maybe this is the only way this ends.)
A major trouble with aviation. A plane crash due to a hijacking or air traffic control mistakes due to understaffing.
A major economic report that shows we have moved into a recession that can be directly connected to the shutdown.
The Mueller Report is released and President Trump is so weak that Congress is able to work around him and reopen the government
Mass Sickouts at the IRS and few people get their tax refund.
Mass Sickouts and resignations at key areas like the Border Patrol, FBI, Secret Service, etc.
When one of 4 things happen:
1. Pelosi blinks and gives Trump what he wants,
2. Trump blinks and accepts the 1.6 billion for the wall,
3. McConnell grows a pair, allows the Senate to vote on the House proposal, Sends it to Trump, Trump vetoes and congress overrides it,
4. The economy starts to tank and threatens Trump's approval ratings with his base.
I think the lack of compensation- pay for the 800,000 workers and 1 million contractors- is key to ending the shutdown.
If there is a commonality to people in America is we want it NOW! Yes, President Trump signed a bill that said the government will pay the 800,000 Federal workers when the government shutdown ends. But what if it does not end for 6-9-12 months or longer. People will run out of money and go nuts. Many will quit, others will do work slowdowns, others will call in sick, others will act out. People want their money now!
Eventually, the services provided by the government will become so terrible Congress and the powerbrokers will finally notice.
How long would you wait for your next paycheck even if they told you that it would be paid eventually?
The people in caravan might take over the WH knowing that fences don't work. No doubt the democrats would back them as they always do and especially if they achieve the goal of a coup against a President they hate.

Trump answers to no one. The guy actually has a backbone and is more stubborn than a mule.
He was put in office to return the USA back to an independent nation, free from foreign interest.
The US Constitution is king, protected by the 2nd amendment, under the direction of the creator.
"I was elected to office, to take Washington DC and return it back to you..... THE PEOPLE"
Damn, if he isn't accomplishing more than anyone ever thought.... and it worked, making 30 years of past Presidents, look like puppets of the Deepstate.
I highly doubt that Trump is going to cave on the Wall.
The chance of that happening is small.
I hope so. Stand strong Trump!!!!!
