Trump just had Pelosi's luggage dropped off in military liaison carts in the hallway near her office. Epic troll I would have pinned on it that flight "Botox 1" has been canceled.
"In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate."
Well since there have been such visits from time to time then I guess there was nothing terribly important about this one. Especially as they could have gotten to Afghanistan non-stop.
I suspect they could have flown to Afghanistan non-stop if they had carried a change or two of crews and arranged for mid-air refueling.
However, part of the trip involved meeting with NATO and U.S. Military Commanders, as well as key NATO allies.
Likely the reason such visits occur from time to time is that Congress controls the purse strings and checking to see things for themselves is a good idea.
A shutdown is a shutdown! Next should be all of Congresses paychecks and and any gov't medical benefits.
Next? No, FIRST! It should be a law that if government workers don’t get paid during a shutdown, then neither should congress and the president. Not that it would hurt all those millionaires, but it would be a good move. Unfortunately, the people that would pass that law won’t do it.
Temper tantrum from our President...how presidential.
Doesn't matter what --- it initially was approved but Trump is mad Pelosi suggested no STOTU at the Capitol....so Trump said I can't come to your House -- you can't play with my toys.
How mature.
