Not overreach.

Overreach is blindly funding a bunch of green energy companies... only to watch them fail one by one.

Oh, it would be used. That idea would probably float in more enlightened times.

You wouldn't believe the amount of Texans here in Florida...and they often have to drive back and forth.

Of course, the train would have to be extra fast since the line is so curved.....ideally, high speed trains would be next to the larger interstates, etc......perfect setup.

Thats how this wall should be constructed imo, put out a nationwide call for workers, with experience or without, just get there, sign up and go to work!

This could create entire new cities and towns in the process too.
You do that during times of high unemployment. Not during times of full employment.

And those projects served a purpose...

Skill requirements have gotten higher. We use more equipment instead of bodies.

Wind power by state
Texas (20,321 MW)
Iowa (6,917 MW)
Oklahoma (6,645 MW)

More power to them. Enlightened moves by those states.

Automation, even of highway construction, would pooh-pooh any large job efforts. Back in the CCC days, they actually used a lot of shovels. But they did some massive good works. Most of them are part of our world today. I often see the brass markers embedded in the concrete (sea walls, etc.).

I guess that is one reason FDR is rated in the top 4 POTUS of all time.

What you’re saying is “build it and people will come” except the wall is no “Field of Dreams”.

It appears to me that what you want to do is submit yet another justification to give a coveted toy to the toddler in the WH.

We already have dying towns and decaying cities in this country. There are people already living there. Let us do something about those first.

Personally, I can think of many other infrastructure projects--projects that don't involve hundreds of lawsuits initiated by landowners whose property is being taken by the government.
I have to imagine there were alot of people who said the same thing when the interstate highways were built too!!

Make it Solar with weed production on the right of way and you'll get some converts.

Add in some dispensing of free Pizza baked in Solar Ovens and the vote will swing....beer would definitely tilt things (in more ways than one) and putting Big Screen TV's on the American side with free HBO...done deal.

True, but that is water over the dam. Fixing the existing ones where the land is already bought and cleared isn't being stopped by lawsuits.

LOTS of people all over the country making minimum wage jobs, Im sure they would jump at the chance to sign up for some big project like this, even move their entire family to the area for the chance.

Securing the border is a pretty big purpose imo, the heroin epidemics alone have destroyed 10s of 1000s lives, these drugs just keep flowing in year after year after year.

While we do use more heavy equipment today, there are many areas in the southwest that big equipment cannot be used due to the terrain/topography, look at some of the ancient BIG projects, Puma Punku, the pyramids, they relied on 100s of 1000s of workers, even building on mountains, we could not replicate some of those structures today!
