We've been here many times before but have never seen the ending. This time Trump is sticking it out. He is willing to go down with the ship and Dems may have recognized that.

"“Give Trump the money," Rep. Collin Peterson, a centrist Democrat from a red Minnesota district, told a local radio station Tuesday. “I’d give him the whole thing…and put strings on it so you make sure he puts the wall where it needs to be. Why are we fighting over this? We’re going to build that wall anyway, at some time.”

and

"However, the letter, being circulated among some lawmakers from red or swing districts, illustrates the pressure they are under to end the shutdown. Pelosi and Schumer have argued that giving in to Trump's desires would be rewarding “bad behavior” or “hostage taking.“ But some Democrats are starting to question that strategy."

Elections aren't until 2020, he's the one that ran on wall wall wall, and last I checked there's no wall. It would've been smart to try and do this earlier, but now there definitely isn't going to be a wall.

Gonna be intense in 2-3 weeks as Dems realize SNAP & WIC will not go out in full. 64% fundable at max March.

No surprise. The 7th Is pretty red. In fact it is one of the reddest districts in congress to have a dem representative.

Trump has a two-fer going. He's down sizing gov. and will get the wall.

I'll bet he gets a hat trick when its all over.
Rubbing Pelosi's nose in it like a puppy being housebroken doesn't count but #3 is in the cards somewhere.

Trump once joked that those on furlough are mostly Democrats. Is it any surprise that the northern Virginia reps have panicked first? The shutdown has disappeared from the headlines. They barely had 30 sec on the Today Show. That alone tells me it is not working for the Dems.

Down sizing permanently is the best part. Condition folks to realize gov got too big.

Actually, Trump won running on "wall, wall, wall."

It's a brilliant move on Trump's part to force Democrats to either fund the wall (and get primaried by a hard-core leftists that will lose in the general) or explain to the voters in 2020 why they opposed it.

I'm willing to bet this thread will be proven wrong in tomorrow's Senate vote. I predict there will be more Republican defections than Democratic defections.

GOP will cave before the dems do, as always. They are petrified of the media backlash. They'll give the dems a veto proof no wall budget before too long, with a few dollars for generic "border security" that'll probably go towards padding someone's pension or something.
