The problem with Republicans these days (and I say this as a conservative) is they are all for tax cuts but no longer want to cut spending. Of course the debt wil go up. When taxes are cut spending should automatically be cut...I would prefer the welfare state was cut (for the young able bodied). That's the #1 reason I vote Republican...my dream of draconian spending cuts. I am now realizing my dream won't come true with Republicans. The same as Democrats they like to spend like drunken sailors.

Yet deficits are lower under dems. Bill Clinton was the most fiscally conservative president in decades. Obama inherited a mess but the deficit eventually did go down towards the end of his term.

Spend and spend is worse than tax and spend

Another broken promise by trump.
Please post a link to threads you started about Obama running up the national debt during his 8 years, to have any credibility on the subject?
Otherwise this thread will appear like partisan hypocrisy to the rest of us who are not leftists/liberals.

This is the number one negative issue I have with Trump's two years. I guess I should have seen it coming -- his companies filed BK quite a few times - he called himself the king of debt. Well, the debt will either be fixed eventually by us, or the laws of economics will fix it for us. No free lunch.

The last Republican President to leave the economy in better shape than he found it was Eisenhower.

One of Trump's crazier campaign promises was that he would eliminate the federal debt.

Seems we are farther than ever from that goal.

So Trump has expanded the debt by 10% in 2 years. Obama more than doubled the debt in 8 years.

Cute story-except that revenues are at record highs AFTER the cut. As they end up after virtually every tax cut.

We don't have a revenue problem-we have a spending problem. And neither party will address it.

So you believe Trump should bring the deficit down by cutting spending. I'm with you. Welcome aboard. Cut the hell out of welfare, food stamps, SSI. Planned Parenthood. Eliminate Dept of Education, the NEA. Stop funding NPR. Get out of the student loan business. and eliminate 0bamacare. I'm with ya. Welcome aboard!
