Assuming the shutdown is still going on, (and I suspect it will be,) should I fly? We have been reading worrying reports saying the system is nearing a breaking point. I (the company actually) has not purchased my tickets yet so it is nearing the 11th hour for me to book the flights. But it is for a business trip across the country. I would be leaving from Houston Bush, which already has Terminal B closed down. I could conceivably cancel the trip, but that might put me in hot water with the company. I'm not sure. I have not broached the subject with them yet because I was hoping this would be over. But what about safety? Maybe we should just hope the shutdown ends before I need to leave (Feb 11th) and pay more for the tickets after it ends (assuming it does). Thoughts?

I'm not concerned about delays as much as air traffic control. I'll wait in line forever, but once we are in the air, who knows what will happen? And they have a heavy workload as it is.

Book your ticket.

I’m not saying that because you have nothing to worry about. (You do! It’s dangerous to fly right now.) I’m just giving you the advice I give myself. Personally, I’m not letting that idiot in the White House stop me from doing what I want to do.

Hopefully, this will be over soon before people get hurt or killed.

Got it. Since you're concerned two weeks ahead of the trip, I'd say if you can put the trip off, do that.

I'm not being a wiseguy, by the way, I just think your stress level about this will only increase the closer you get to flying.

People are being hurt and killed now by people who have no right to be in the country.

If they were just hurting and killing democrats who approve of it I wouldn't object but that's not the way its working. After all they should be the victims they want to be.

I have a flight scheduled in three weeks. It's refundable, so I'll make the decision about whether or not to go closer to flight time. I may not have a choice, if airports keep closing.
