Personally I've been called everything from "uneducated" to "need to see a psychiatrist" to out and out "retarded" on various boards because I don't hold a liberal point of view.

Why? What drives this behavior?
I'm sorry you've been called those names.

Just as trumpies think everyone who disagrees with them is a "leftist" or a "liberal."

They have no clue what these terms actually mean, it's just a word of disparagement to those who use it. Further, they ignore the fact there are people across the entire political spectrum who are not supportive of Trump and are not amused by his lies and cons. All those people are called "liberals" too, even if some of the people consider themselves conservatives.

You're exactly right.

In general, liberals tend to believe conservatives are unintelligent (or uninformed). Conservatives, by contrast, tend to believe liberals are evil - which in my view is far more contemptible.

I do find, speaking personally, that today's conservatives and Trump supporters (meaning that I'm not counting conservatives from mid-century, who seem very different) tend to be poorly informed, not very aware of history or foreign goings-on, and don't read much. I also find that many of them seem incapable of logic. You can see even in this forum here, how Trump supporters tend to disbelieve all the better sources of information, and often respond to liberal posts with just something like "CNN - LOL!" - rather than engage in any logical debate. They also frequently have problems with basic English, which leads me to believe that they're not very educated.

On the other hand, I think it's perfectly possible that some of that is deliberate, not due to being unintelligent, but instead refusing to face facts. An easy example would be the way people clung to the total lie of Obama being born in Africa.

Nah, we tend to believe you guys are evil, uninformed and unintelligent. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence or common sense would have believed that something like Obamacare would lower our healthcare costs, that Hillary Clinton would have been a great President or that things like Socialism just haven't been tried enough to succeed.

Well, if this post reflect how you think "how liberals see"....being as there are many 10's of millions who are of the "liberal as this country was founded" variety, you have given a perfect example right here.

Let me try to explain at least a little.

If I say to you that taxes must go WAY up to make up the TRILLION dollar deficit, but you come back and say "no, we have to give more tax cuts and that trillion will come in".....that is an ignorant statement. It doesn't mean you aren't a doctor, a lawyer, a craftsperson or unable to function in society. It does mean you don't know 9th grade mathematics. Assuming most here are adults it should be important that the discussion be at - say - an 11th grade level or above. Ideally it would higher.

Now.....who made up the word "lib tards" and other such crude remarks and uses them constantly? Yep, the Right.
Read C-D for a while and you will see it time and time again.
Why do only 6% of Scientists ID as Republican? Well, since you are intelligent you can work that one out yourself.

In a day and age then the Right CELEBRATES their crudeness (Hey, look at me - I'm deplorable) it's strange that you don't seem to notice....and take some individual actions as pertaining to the whole.

Give me a reasoned argument as to how we can pay the bills...raise an extra trillion per year....and I'll take it. Tell me why we pay 2X the cost for health care and leave 10's of millions not insured....and why our life spans are headed DOWN...and, yet, at the same time the Right champions "let 'em die" and scam health care??

I'm ready able and willing. I'm balanced many a budget and come out with great surpluses. But I never did so by telling wealthy people who came into my shop that they can pay less.

Toilet training as a child.

The left:
I'm afraid mommy.

The middle:
Do I aim into or out of the toilet?

The right:
I got this mom.........

Ah, yes, speaking of uninformed - Obamacare not only lowered costs for tons of people, but allowed people to get healthcare that they hadn't been able to get at all previously. And, yes, of course Hillary would have made a good president - it can't be known whether she would have been great, but almost anyone would have been better than the bigoted, greedy, bullying ignoramus we have now.

It's not the sign of intelligence some think it is.
The brain isn't like a political system that some want to destroy and make better. The success rate is about the same for both though. No one with a good quality functioning brain wants to be party to the experiment when they have a political system that has proven to be the most successful the world has ever known. Producing more good than any before it. Those that are a part of it, and hate it, will never satisfy their self-hatred even when they get what they want.
You seem to be equating liberalism with communism, a common mistake among low information conservatives.

I have no idea, as I try to avoid engaging in it. I can't explain or take responsibility for what others say.

I think it's important to put the comment you quoted in context, though, namely your response about what "we" (meaning conservatives) do or do not do, when judging people by their associates.

When you speak in generalities, people are likely to respond in kind.

Can you tell me why so many conservatives call liberals "traitors," "evil," or "mentally disordered?" If you can't, that's fine. In fact, it's kind of the whole point.
