personally, i do not like the "idea" of NATO (outdated), but if it is something one likes, then this is the way to go.

There is nothin g wrong with the idea of NATO. There is everything wrong with our partners not paying or investing their fair share and putting the burden upon us.
As it was for the last 50 years or so, most of our partners have been that friend that always forgets his wallet when you go out to eat.

He may. But all we've heard, and I believe you may have said it, was how all our foreign alliances were being destroyed.

Out of NATO? Quite rightly there should be complaints about some of the members skimping on their support. Those complaints are decades old, going back to the midst of the Cold War, and few, if any, US leaders addressed it.

Germany for one dumped money into their social issues while letting the US cover for them in case the Cold War became hot.
