If I was severely beaten, had a noose around my neck, bleach all over me, had a threatening letter sent to me, the last thing I'd be thinking is "oh no! my pics & contacts!".
And it all supposedly happened in under a minute lol

Exaggerate much? The guy wasn't 'severely beaten'. He didn't have bleach poured "all over him".
If the police want to prove that he was on the phone at a certain time, they can easily get the phone records from the phone company. Maybe they already have video of him on the phone anyway. But they'll be getting the records from the phone company pretty quickly too so they can piece together every detail.
It's not evidence of anything. The call wasn't recorded. I don't see why the police would be interested to obtain something that is not evidence.
it is if both were lying or their story doesn't add up............If I tell police that I was talking to my mother on the cell phone around a specific time when I was attacked and my mother heard the attack and later it shows there was never any record of that phone call then that's what you call holes in the story......that's what investigators do when things don't add up keep searching for more lies, err I mean inconsistencies.....lol
this is call police work 101...............they want to compare the timing of the alleged phone call to the cameras.

They're responsible for checking the truthfulness and accuracy of what's being told to them. It's simple - you hold the phone and show the details of the call that have the number, date and time and length of call - and you put your phone back in your pocket.
We're not talking about handing over your phone so they can read every email and text message here.

How do you know whether the police asked for the phone or not?
The RW wanting desperately to believe their version of events.
Gay, black males are absolutely are often targets of attack. For that matter, gay white males don't go unnoticed either
But much more often they are NOT target of attacks, and everything about this case indicates that this is one of those times.
