Everyone is a political commentator and always "ON" all the damn time. I have seen so many provide their opinion on a political matter when no one was even asking or cared. Additionally its gotten so silly that people get mad if you don't want to talk politics, amazing!
When Obama was in office people in the hospital would want to "talk" politics with me because I was black and they had a bone to pick (Large semi-rural to rural population). They were often disappointed because I was there to do my JOB not talk tax policy. But it didn't stop them from getting worked up and shouting, just acting like a child and no one is even debating them. I usually charting or making plans for rounds while they rambled on about the Tea Party ect. I was always worried my patients were slowly killing themselves by getting worked up all day watching this crap. These patients will watch cable news all damn day, not conducive to healing in my opinion.
Different president, different party, same crap. I have had patients get upset at me because I didn't point out their MAGA hat or some stupid tee shirt. Why would I care about a hat, don't you want me focused on the 20 meds your on and the heart attack you had 3 months ago. I had a patient "fire" me because I had no opinion on Kavanagh during the hearing, why would a patient even care what I think, and why would I go there at work?
What is really interesting is I rarely have a black patient talk politics, even if politics is on the television in the room. They all keep to themselves when it comes to politics and rarely wear political attire outside of November elections. Makes sense to me as this is how I was taught growing up.

Children? Isn’t a 14 year old a high schooler? High schoolers aren’t children, nope.
