This is interesting. Trump says in speech, "I will be signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research dollars".

I wonder how long it will take before the tabloid media spins this as "Trumps promotes far right hate speech in schools", or some nonsense like that.

They probably already have put that spin on it .

This makes sense . If they are taking tax money they should be allowing the expression of non liberal view points . We have seen that’s not been the case .

Some universities don't even want any speech from the right. They can label it far right to get away with it but banning people who are just conservatives is wrong.

Isn't that cute, that he wants free speech on college campuses? Yet, he himself would love to ban the press for negative coverage, lol. Does anyone besides me see the irony?

As long as the executive order is legal (i.e. is an extension to the law regarding federal funding for education that leaves the president some leeway to add conditions to receiving federal funds), I have no problem with it.

I guess a lot of colleges that are affiliated with conservative religions will be losing some Federal Funding, of course schools like Berkley will be safe...
