Later today, the House will be sending a bill to the Senate denouncing Trump's declaration of an emergency.
"Three Senate Republicans have publicly said they would vote for a resolution of disapproval, and another strongly suggested he would. Only four Republicans are needed, because Democrats control 47 seats and the resolution requires a simple majority of 51 votes."
While it may pass, the Senate will most certainly not have the votes to override Trump's inevitable veto. Still, I look forward to this vote in the Senate. I want these Republicans on the record as voting to ignore the Constitution.

actually hard to know in both cases.
2020 is set to be a tough cycle for Repubs, just as 2016 was a tough one for dems, that is just how the numbers work..
thus expect to see more marginal senators look to cover their butts... the last thing they will want is 24/7 TV adverts saying they voted to support an illegal power grab...or such like.

At the same time some of them are worried about a primary challenge from a Trump bootlicker if they vote yes.
He will VETO the bill and they won't be able to override his veto. He will tell his base he is fighting for them and work with them to see that there is a primary opponent against every RINO (Republican in Name Only) that voted against him. Win-Win for Trump!

And a lose/lose for the Republican party. Trump will be gone eventually. But the party that propped him up as he grabbed power in defiance of the Constitution will have to answer for that for years to come. Never again will the GOP be able to pretend they Constitutionalists. That claim will become a standing joke.
You see a short term "win." I see a long-term overall loss. The chickens will come home to roost for the GOP and they'll have only themselves to blame.

This is the crux of the matter for Republicans. An ethical Republican (sounds like a contradiction in terms) can get primaried if they cross the trump base, although the Trump base can not guarantee them a victory in the general election and might primary them anyway. So in a sense the radical base could bring down the house around themselves.

I thought that supporting the constitution was a republican virtue, we heard last year with their support of the stalwart supreme court justices. But now they are conservative republicans when they can circumvent congress on a whim, this is the new republican party and it wont play well for moderates.
I don't see that this passed the house yet and it might past the senate but you are probably right in that they wont be able to override his veto. I guess the Trump fear factor continues in the GOP but I look forward to all those senate republicans particularly those on the judiciary committee go on record.
