I don’t know about the other posters, but this is not what I am offended by. The subject of the episode you cited is intended to illustrate the unfairness and how wrong it was. It was throwing light on a real historical practice.
If we watch a comedy show, we want it to be funny, not to be “educated” about some political agenda. For example, Will and Grace is very liberal and totally gay, but it’s hilarious, and i love it. I used to love Murphy Brown, but the new one was a preachy, unfunny Trump bashing mess.
This incrementalism has been going on a very long time. I first noticed it on Sesame Street. When my first child watched it in the 60s, it was relatable. By the 1970s, in was no longer relatable to white suburban kids. Now, I haven’t seen it lately, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s not relatable unless you have 2 mommies.
Are you going to explain to us why you think Sesame Street in the 70’s was unrelatable?

When I watch entertainment, I want to be entertained. I do not want pseudo science global warming bull c**p on Madam Secretary or anti illegal immigration stories on For the People or Law and Order, SVU.
The news, on both sides, is crappy enough. I watch news during the day (both Fox and CNN to get perspective)....
I don't want it slammed down my throat on a "show"
The really sad thing is that a lot of younger individuals with not so great education take this a gospel and real!!

Television did not change, our interaction with This President is different. I thought it was a good idea for the president to have a direct line to the public.
Now I regret it because you cannot escape politics, not when our president won't stop aiming for headlines with his tweets every freaking day. Our president needs to give it a rest, we get it you like twitter.

That's why I liked Castle. It's a program dealing with normal civilian crimes, not the whole nationalist, semi-military CSI propaganda crap.
But all in all I avoid American programs these days, just a waste of time for me.

Young people also don't tend to watch shows like "Madame Secretary" and "L&O:SVU."
It's kind of ironic that the OP is so worked up about shows that appeal to people who likely hard-wired their political preferences long ago.
The age groups for these shows tend to skew (much) older and are also the most reliable voters.

I have no problem! I have a remote, I just change the channel. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Me, too. I'm 60 years old and pretty much no one's target demographic. I watch a lot of older shows and movies (dvds, streaming, etc). Not beacuse of politics, but because I think most new stuff is not worth watching. If I do like a new show, it gets cancelled pretty quickly. It can be an adjustment, being on the older side of the generation gap (when I remember so clearly when it was the other way around, lol).
I gave up on them when Obama was elected. They were the Obama channel.
No late night Comedians. No SNL. Very little National News from the big 3 in the morning or evening. About to give up on the local ABC news station that was rock solid for 50 years.
There maybe about 5 shows I still watch on CBS now. Bull, Criminal Minds, NCIS, a few others.
It's just going to keep getting worse.
So much of the entertainment industry is owned by the same few corporations, and they are all pushing the socialist lib'tard agenda. And why wouldn't they, when the left dominates college and university professor lounges and administrators, and churn out ignorant leftist sheep, who then get hired by entertainment media.
these people are brain dead zombies. they cried as children when Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" told them that the polar bears were dying due to catastrophic man-made global warming.
Now that these teary-eyed children are adults, and the polar bear populations have quadrupled, do they think for themselves and start doubting the propaganda they have been fed all these years? Not in the least. They ignore the inconvenient facts which destroy their propaganda, and buy into the new propaganda du jour.
