Just so you know, while things may be imported,this nation can be very self sufficient agriculturally. LED lighting has truly changed the face of agriculture and for environmental and labor reasons we should be doing more in this area. The heat problem, in general can be resolved with geothermal and now the lighting issue can be resolved (the cost of lighting was the true barrier).
New orchards system (via Cornell) are getting fruit in the 2nd year and peak in year 5.

Trump is all hot air. He is not shutting down 1.7 Billion dollars of trade every day that crosses the border. It would be economic suicide. Then again, he has proven time and again to be a complete idiot who has no idea of the real consequences of his economic moves, so I suppose it's possible.

Why punish legitimate American and Mexican businesses who have nothing to do with immigration? I thought conservatives were pro-business?

I grew up smack-dab in the middle of rural flyover country, deep in the South. I will redact part of what I said but let's face it: vast chunks of the country have larger than normal supplies of either really uneducated or really dumb people. I know because those are "my people" and I experienced it first hand. That explains why over and over again many of those states reliably vote for the worst in conservative politicians, elect state officials whom do their best to take away their rights, and why in the end many of those states come in dead last in terms of education, health, and life expectancy. So while perhaps I was being a bit crude and over generalizing you can't say I'm totally wrong either. I mean sure- I'm a product of that area and am fairly liberal and open minded. But I'd say a good 70-75% of the people I grew up around were just plain outright stupid.
California has its share of idiots, too. So does NY.
Don't forget that we are deplorables to according to the left. They are such hypocrites demanding respect when they show none for our president or his conservative base.
