Responsible property owners take steps to keep vermin out; the same principle applies to Trump's wall -- save that a few do-gooders have taken up the cause of the vermin -- sorta like "animal rights".

Actually, this country could use all the intellectuals it can get. We're sorely lacking in that department these days.
We're always told by Communists that Communism never succeeded because "it was never implemented properly" or something to that effect.
This feels a lot like the arguments that people make for Gender Equality and other variations of Equality Of Outcome.
For example, I heard a statistic recently that 147/150 of the unicorn startup companies (startups valued at over $1 billion) today are founded by men and the remaining 3/150 are co-founded by husband-wife couples.
This is because "we still don't have equality of opportunity"?
That's not what Gorbachev said, he said the U.S. and the West lied to him.
The outcome is only different when the opportunities are different. Some of this is genetic, some is nurture, all is the environment that shapes us.
If the opportunities are the same, then the outcomes are logically the same also. Unless by the mantra of "equal but separate" and "equal opportunities" one means a completely DIFFERENT TYPE of "equal" and different kinds of "equal opportunities."
