We're constantly being reminded by all the Trump haters in the mainstream media and public at large how Trump is breaking all Democratic "norms" in our country and inflaming division with his divisive rhetoric yet wildly hyperbolic, absurd crap articles like this get published in the country's largest newspaper and no one on the left sees the irony in it.
Keep in mind this is the same "Nobel Peace prize winning economist" who predicted the stock market would crash and never recover the night Trump was elected.

Great column--thanks for posting!!!! So true. He's right--why are industries 'self-regulating' and 'self-policing'? It is absurd.
You want to eat meat from 'self-regulating' pig farms? Go ahead.
We know what happens when industries and people police themselves--crashing economy, crashing housing market, 3-mile Island, oil spills, coal ash dumping, the list of self-regulating industries that do no self-regulate is massive.
Oh, look. Someone else who a) didn't read the piece; and 2) doesn't know the difference between opinion and fact.
I agree with those above who say this is a good article. It is well-written, well- referenced, and lays out quite logically the mistakes the Trump Administration is making, and how the administration is not looking out for the welfare of the average citizen. The premise may be a tweak dramatic, but it is not incorrect.
"Donald Trump is trying to kill you"...Actual headline of a NY Times article
I'd hardly consider an O-P-I-N-I-O-N column a "NY Times article"
I'm fully aware that it's an opinion article and the standard is different than an actual news article. Doesn't change the fact that opinion piece or not it's an actual approved headline by NY TImes opinion editors. The comments are an even sadder commentary.
I'm not suggesting people don't have a right to criticize and disagree with a lot of Trump's policies. That's fair game. It's the assumption that his policies are deliberate attempts to kill people that is ridiculous. The argument against Trump couldn't possibly be that some of his policies while well intentioned are just poor policies that won't work. No, that can't be it. He simply wants to kill you!!
It reflects upon the paper as they have editorial control over what is printed and what isn't.
I guess ole Alex Jones shoulda learned that trick, labeled everything "opinion" as some sort of blanket absolution from crappy and\or yellow journalism.
Make no mistake, this is just a symptom of the struggling media in the internet age. To see the NYT groveling for ratings to make their corporate profit goals with headlines like that (opinion or otherwise) just reminds me that things change and once upon a time the NYT saw better days.
