The way universal healthcare generally works is that the staff would be paid as always, but instead of the money coming out of the patients pocket, everyone's costs are dispersed across all of society via taxes. Similar to how schools and police departments work.

I think there should be healthcare for those with terminal conditions, but when someone goes to the hospital because they were stupid and broke a bone or abuses and games the medical system, that's where the line should be drawn.
I agree with Joey. However, I still think the government should subsidize healthcare for the poor.
They do, it's called Medicaid. ACA was an expansion of Medicaid and nothing more. It was developed by the insurers to create a windfall for them. Premiums rose and deductibles are outrageous.
