There are many brands within ISLAM, no different than Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism.
Beyond the terrorists, who else is responsible?
Let us know when you figure out how anyone can stop other people from committing atrocious acts of violence.
We don't need to look for anyone "beyond" those responsible.
And the first step in stopping more attacks by terrorists like those responsible for the Easter attack on Christians, is to acknowledge just who the culprits are, and stop portraying them as victims.
Islam is not persecuted everywhere, but Islam is being used as a proxy to further everyone's agenda, including those you'd least suspect. Who do you think is funding ISIS or its previous avatar, Al-Qaeda?
If tomorrow you dress up as a muslim fundamentalist (you know by growing one foot long unkempt beard, turban, khol in eyes, Arab attire) and make a video cursing/hurting the so called infidels and then claim that you are doing it to please Allah, how many people are even going to question if you are indeed a true muslim or not? How can we even stop morons like these to affiliate themselves with Islam?
I really don't think anyone can do anything, Muslim or not. I'm sure the advent of the Internet has only fueled the international spread of the violent forms of Islam.
The violent forms of Islam are at war with everyone on the planet, from Athiest Russia/China, to Hindhu, Sikhs, and Bhudist in Asia, to Christians/Jews.
Pray tell how do we Muslims bring a halt to this? You think there is a one single religious leader at the helm of Islamic world who just needs to say something and it will stop right away? You think its the incorrect interpretation of religious texts? Then this can only change with education. Look at the level of education in most muslim countries and look at how many of those muslim countries are mired in wars? You didn't think the war in Iraq was going to create a throng of orphans who can't be brainwashed to turn into religious zealots in the hand of those who have something to gain from it?
Are you really blaming the lack of education in Muslim-majority countries on the U.S. invasion of Iraq? I hate to break it to you but these countries were mired in poverty, ignorance and warfare for centuries before.
If I only got my news from ABC News Nightline, I'd think these bombings were done by "domestic terrorists" who were "little known", "murky" and possibly Buddhists. The group carrying out the attacks, the National Thowfeek Jamaath, is named in this report but there is no mention of Islam or jihad, not even a hint that any Muslims live in Sri Lanka.
Isn’t it true that Saudi Arabia is the source of the books and lessons at most of the world’s Islamic schools? That could be one step to ending this form of Islam. Think about this. In the past few decades there have been Islamic terrorist attacks in the Pacific Islands, Australia, multiple countries in Asia, multiple countries in europe, multiple countries in Africa, and North America. They were all Muslim and they all claimed to be carrying out the attacks in the name of Allah and the prophet Muhammad. You tell ME why they do this all around the world.
One place they rarely attack is Israel. I guess they're afraid of the IDF and Mossad. Other Western armies and intelligence agencies, not so much. The other ones are interested in preserving "goodwill" in the Muslim world so respond with "restraint." What does restraint mean? Means Hollande, Macron, Merkel and/or Obama go to funerals of the victims and weep.
My friend obviously was being sarcastic. He was making fun of the State Department's usual call for "restraint" after an atrocity, say, a suicide bombing or a truck ramming of pedestrians.
I figured as much.
My friend's IQ is about 158, or double my IQ of 79. Fun fact.
