I do not know the political affiliation of anyone in the story, but this kind of things happens way too often and across party lines. We have a situation one county over from me where the sheriff of Chester, South Carolina, Alex Underwood has been indicted for something similar that happened in this story.

Underwood was indicted last week for an odd situation where a man was arrested for recording the aftermath of a police chase that ended in a wreck in a man hunt, all from his property. Underwood ordered the man, Kevin Simpson, to get on his porch, which Simpson did but then yelled "manhunt." This started a string of events that led to Simpson's arrest on "disorderly conduct and resisting arrest."

SMH

Turns out that Simpson was sharing what was happening on Facebook which, incidentally, is what I would have been doing. When Underwood and a few of his deputies found out, they concocted some poppycock story that one of their radios were missing. They did not seem to understand how Facebook Live works. I think they thought if they found his phone, they could delete the footage off of Facebook
Quote:
During the search, they found Simpson’s cellphone and illegally confiscated it, the indictments said. Underwood and Sprouse later tampered with the phone to destroy or “impair its integrity or availability” in a federal investigation, the indictments said.
SMH 2

Not the brightest bulbs in the box.

SC sheriff and chief deputy indicted on excessive force and cover-up charges

I don't know Underwood's politics either, but there are other charges coming unrelated to this case.

Adam Schiff leaked Classified Documents to the Fake News Media.... Now, you understand why he is freaking right now.
There is a rock with his mail box next to it. It may be awhile before he crawls out.

They hit Assange for the same thing.

This is one of those murky issues with no clear answers (to me at least).

Most of the rulings on these types of incidents deal with matters dealing with national security.

There are no federal laws that protect journalists in these cases but there are state laws that shield journalists from revealing confidential sources.

The guy's a bit shady in that he profited from this information. Anyhow good luck on the cops trying to find out who leaked the info.

Oh...

San Francisco police chief concedes raid on journalist was wrong — ‘I’m sorry’

After two weeks of growing outrage, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott apologized Friday for raiding a journalist’s home and office in a bid to unmask a confidential source, admitting the searches were probably illegal and calling for an independent investigation into the episode.

...
Scott’s position on Friday was a reversal of his earlier public comments on the raid, which sparked outrage locally and nationally from lawmakers and press-freedom advocates. Gov. Gavin Newsom and U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris on Thursday joined in condemning the police action.

...
In a news conference Tuesday, Scott said his department had suspected Carmody took part in a criminal conspiracy to steal an internal police report. Carmody said he did not pay for the report or conspire to steal it but simply acquired it as part of his work as a journalist.

...
Scott said the officers who executed the search did not consult with the district attorney’s office before obtaining the warrants — a violation of department policy. He’s also pledged to review department policy regarding warrant applications and tactics around police searches.

That's progress... they still ransacked the journalist's home and had him in handcuffs for 6 hours.

This is Christopher Wray's FBI. This is his way of restoring and inspiring confidence as the Director of the FBI.
Anyone inspired !?!?!?

Trump appointments don't last when they prove themselves to be part of the swamp. Hopefully this get national attention and is brought to Trump's attention. He's a busy man and needs to be informed by his staff about this.

This is only supposed to happen when conservatives or Republicans are being investigated.
