If a viewpoint isn't allowed to be discussed and shared openly won't they just go find like minds and become more intent on their ideals and more radical? Wouldn't it be better to keep an open dialog than to shut them out so they won't feel marginalized and only able to turn to those who think like them. Also, isn't it better to know what people are thinking?
I believe minds can be changed and we can learn from each other but there has to be an open exchange of ideas and opinions. People with controversial or even questioning opinions are not going to go *poof* and disappear, they are going to be angry at being silenced. They are being pushed toward those who may take advantage of their frustration, especially young people who may feel confused as they have no where to turn.
It just seems a bad and shortsighted idea for the media and big tech to arbitrarily shut humans down as if they were an electronic device they can just power off and that's the end of it.
