More people die in the US due to lack of care than those countries. They also have better outcomes statistically. So much for hazardous to health.

I am for national health insurance. Call it a hamburger plan. If you want steak, I have zero problems with something emulating the supplemental plans currently in the US for seniors. Copays and deductibles are important gatekeepers from frivolous use. I am in favor of keeping them. Simply, health care should never bankrupt someone with half million dollar bills.

There are many polls in these countries asking if they would like to go to a US style system. These polls are overwhelmingly NO.

All fine and dandy, but I see no move to curb the monopolistic practices of big pharma, hospitals, and the AMA. IE not addressing the cost end, partly driven by entities actively screwing over the US who own congress, lobbying massive dollars to re-election campaigns. Google Billy Tauzin who got rich by screwing over the entire US.

No, they bloody well aren't "actually moving towards private health care". Any politician suggesting a US-style system in Scandinavia would end his/her career immediately.

Even your own link says as much:

Quote:
Private plans in Sweden and Norway are mainly designed to supplement the government-run plan.

In addition to covering out-of-pocket costs, these plans also guarantee prompt access to specialists or elective procedures, which the state plans often fail to provide.

Denmark also allows “complementary” insurance plans, which cover services that are partially or not at all covered by the national system, including dental and vision services.
People buy add-ons to the robust public offering.

Because you are not paying attention. Trump is mandating drug companies post their prices and medical providers as well. He is advocating for transparency. I know you probably don't hear about this on MSNBC so you might have to find some other news sources.

Why do you people think the AMA does anything at all? I hear that AMA conspiracy theory all the time and it is completely laughable and false.

It is a left wing, east coast, primary care political organization that does absolutely nothing. Most physicians (myself included) are not AMA members.

CONGRESS controls the number of residency slots and medical schools. If you want to alter the supply of physicians, call your congressman and tell him to increase funding for more medical schools and residency slots.

Most on the left don't WANT to hear the truth and only listen to "news" programs that reinforce their preconceived notions. Honestly though, some on the right do the same.

Trump is to be congratulated for this move, baby step though it might be, nevertheless, he needs to be appreciated for this move. A crack in the armor of the American Medical ommunity doing as it pleases is a first small step of what one would only hope is a dam-busting surge.
