How could anyone find burning a flag more appealing than eating a hot dog, drinking a beer, and watching your brother-in-law blow his fingers up lighting fireworks?
“I think it’s safe to say without much exaggeration that this is going to be the largest fireworks show D.C. has ever seen,” National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst said.
Litterst said the fireworks show will be longer than 35 minutes because two fireworks companies made donations worth nearly one million dollars.
Absolutely. Look, I love this country, but the flag is simply some cloth with some stars and stripes sewn on it by some factory worker somewhere. I know flag burning is somehow seen as this horrible act, but if you boil it down, it is just some protesters lighting fire to a flag they bought at some store somewhere.
I know someone will say brave men and women fought for that flag, but they really fought for the country, not that piece of cloth.
And burning a Quran is just burning paper- so why the big deal?
Because it is not burning the material that matters- it is the destruction of a symbol, which has greater ramifications.
Flag burning is legal, however that does not make it acceptable behavior for those who value the rights and priveledge of being a US citizen. Burning the flag shows contempt for what the nation stands for, thus symbolically performing the destruction of the nation.
Libs are essentially "fifth columnists" in America, seeking the destroy what distinguishes America from despotic, totalitarian nations. Ironically, those tyrannical governments tend to be the ones liberals love. If politics have a characture of evil, it is certainly a liberal.
Libs have no problem burning an American flag, but would go ballistic if someone burnt a gay pride flag or condemned them for displaying Mexican, Palestinian, North Vietnamese, or the USSR flag.

They haven't said exactly when or where they will do this, whether it will be done when President Trump is present and/or in one of the usual "protest zones" out of sight of normal people.
But you can probably count on the far-left media to give it more coverage than they give the actual 4th of July celebration.

Sparks will fly in Washington as activists torch an American flag to protest President Trump's July Fourth "Salute to America," which Trump claims will be one of the largest events in city history.
Longtime flag-burning activist Gregory "Joey" Johnson of the Revolutionary Communist Party told the Washington Examiner, "I'm going to be there in D.C.," and "that rag of empire and oppression is going to burn."
Johnson is well known for winning a 1989 Supreme Court case that invalidated state laws against flag burning. He declined to share the time and location of next week's protest or say how many other activists will participate.
Trump will appear at the Lincoln Memorial at 6:30 p.m., ahead of fireworks at dusk.
Shrug, ok. Am I supposed to be offended?
