No. I do not support EO's. They are not law. They are the work of the lazy. I also said this very same thing about Obama's EO's.

A president does not make law. His job is to enforce them. That he refuses to and refuses to do any heavy lifting to get a law changed causes him to write EO's.

Since Clinton and or perhaps Bush 2 nothing gets done in congress, no heavy lifting by the POTUS or congress. But people seem to be fine with who they vote for in congress.

So your solution when congress and the POTUS simply will not agree on dealing with the border situation?

I don't think any dealing needs to get done. I think all that needs done is for Trump to address the main reason they come.

Jobs. He needs no assistance from anyone to do that.

Jobs and the social safety net.

My first wife worked for L.A. County in social services (the welfare department) and people would come in to her office from Central America and Mexico and ask how to sign up for welfare. They wanted food stamps and Section 8. They thought that the fact that they made it into the country they were automatically eligible for these things. This happened all the time and its the chatter these people hear before they decide to run for the border. Freebees are a much more powerful draw than hard work.

Illegals do not qualify for welfare. That is a very small percent. By all means address that but no one is coming here just for that.

They can ask, they do not get. Then you have to survive from there. Your job.

I understand all of that. There is also the perception that all Americans are rich and making money is very easy here. Which is also not true of course. But you have countries in Central America that want these people leave. So there is an incentive to misinform them on all of this.

I think having a summit with leaders from these countries in Central America and making it harder for these people to cross the border would help. As well as making E-Verify mandatory and passing laws creating stiff penalties for anyone who hires an illegal. But with politics and the fact that Trump pushes the other side away constantly we never are going to get these needed changes done.

Regardless of political affiliations, people who choose to only see one set of viewpoints in their lives and who refuse to even speak to other opinions will be shortsighted and ignorant. In today's political field, everyone is sitting in the echo chambers giving the other side the bird and confirming how great they are with their like minded peers.

What I really hope for is for the country to start talking to each other again, and to find some common ground.

Exactly! Those who keep harping about the job magnet think that ending it is the total solution when clearly it isn't. We need to end all of the incentives for them to come here which are jobs, benefits and birthright citizenship for their kids. Without ending the last two, jobs alone won't do it. Unfortunately, ending the last two will be the hardest to get through congress.

I'd bet you DIDN'T know he was the head of ICE UNDER OBAMA!

Why did obama appoint a "jerk" to work for him?

Obama had a lot of jerks working for him. One of them caused Trump to get elected.
