That isn't what this thread is about. It is about a $20 min wage. There isn't a burger flipper alive with $12 and hour let alone 20. They just dont produce anything of that value. Pay them $20 and what will that 1/4 pounder cost?
Minimum wage in the county I live in is $12. A 1/4 pounder with cheese at McDonalds easily run $7. Even their breakfast burritos is about $1.60.
Because it costs so much for my family to eat out, we eat at home a lot.
I'm surprised some folks aren't seeing that you have to automatically adjust what other people are paid, when you increase minimum wage.
As a quick example, a small business has a janitor making minimum wage, a receptionist making $20/hour, and a bookkeeper making $23/hour. They all report to an office manager who makes $27/hour.
Do you honestly believe you can raise the janitor to $20/hour without adjusting anyone else?

It won't get any cheaper. Increases in hourly wages are passed on to the consumer and people will lose their jobs in order for businesses to main their bottom line.

$20 ~maybe~ in the highest COL areas. But main effect would be staff trimmed to bare minimum with margainally employed people ( like single moms) becoming unemployed.

Less total hours worked, less productivity, smaller/less competitive economy overall with a smaller middle class. The CBO estimated that a $15 min wage would get 1.3million people fired and cut economic output by nearly a full percent, lord knows what a $20 minimum wage would do.
