I think as a point of being honest with the person your being with you should be open about your past. However I don't think you can REQUIRE anyone to be open. Just like you can't require your partner to be honest about how many past partners they have had. Sleeping around with just about anything that walks can also be considered a mental illness.

Well, I think you would be able to tell. Right? I mean no surgery can be that good, can it?
A red flag would go up if I started dating a women who was larger than me, had thick hands, mannish features and a deeper voice. Maybe with some genitalia issues, dissimilar to those who are born female.
As for males, they can't really build an bionic pecker, can they?
Should 'trans-sexuals' MOD CUT be required to tell their partners of their change?
Would you feel comfortable finding that a sexual partner is actually a member of the same sex as you? Would you be progressive and embrace such diversity?
In my opinion, they should be required to. Just like I believe that those with sexually transmitted diseases should be required to inform their partner or face legal consequences.
I voted yes, but I believe that the requirement should be for those seeking to marry, not just sexual partners. Sad that it should have to be a requirement though. You would think that people seeking to marry would be honest with each other. What a concept!
Now, I have to take umbrage with part of your post. This is such a deep and profound topic for a forum. I'll try to keep it short.
Overall, transsexuals and transgendered are not mentally ill. That is to say that a mental disorder causes the desire to become or to line as the opposite sex. However, there are rare cases in which mental illness, such as schizophrenia, is the result of of the gender identity crisis. There is, what some in medicine and academia call, a birth defect. Please see this. Hopefully it will dispel the myth that some people "just want to be the opposite sex."

Read the first page. Also, I know guys that I went to college with and now that just have a small frame. And there are girls I know that are just bigger than most. But these guys and gals are given hormones to help with that.
I have a hard time believing that the "area" still looks the same...but I'm sure a woman turned to a man would have a much more difficult time concealing this.
But the OP isn't about if the person should or shouldn't tell...it's if they should be legally required to tell. IMHO, decency requires that the person disclose this but there is not a legal basis for requiring this.
Thanks for getting my thread closed No you shouldn't be "required" to tell, and who would enforce this? Should you tell? Maybe. That's up to the individual. Should you be required by law? Should you be required by ethics? What exactly is the question OP.
Considering extensive surgery always has visible scarring of some sort, I would assume that you would have to explain this sooner or later. Guess you could just say it was a car accident or something.
To the person who asked in the other thread if we would be willing to have sex with someone who crossed, yes if I loved them and they didn't look anything like a man. I can understand if they were born with improperly formed genitals, I guess I could marry a woman who had a disfigured hand also. Or a terrible burn on part of her body. It doesn't make the person an 'untouchable.' Would it be hard to deal with? Again, only if they acted very manly or in a manner than I would not find attractive in any other woman. I am not even a little bit gay, so they would have had to make a complete crossover for me to be attracted in the first place. Yes, I would do them no problem, I only discriminate based on hotness and whether they are obese or not
Who has sex right after getting tested? Jeez, well then, I don't know....
