Looks like Charlotte, NC is having second thoughts about hosting the RNC's renomination convention, given the city is predominantly black and latino. They can't back out though, because of legal consequences.

Funny, I would have thought this would have been about something other than what happened within the last few months?
From the OPs link:
Quote:
It was drafted in the days after Trump attacked four Democratic congresswomen – one Latina, one African American and two Muslim ― telling them they should “go home” to the countries they came from if they were unhappy in the United States. All four women — colloquially known as “the Squad” — are U.S. citizens, and three were born in the United States.
Of course this vote for trump to be in Charlotte, could have also happened prior to the young lady getting run over and killed.....
'Charlotte' is not having second thoughts about the RNC convention.
There are several council members that are self serving and no one is surprised they are complaining again. The city council voted 6-5 to have the RNC here and the Democratic mayor (who advocated having the RNC in Charlotte) is still in favor of it.
Also - Charlotte is not predominately black or hispanic:
According to the most recent ACS (2019), the racial composition of Charlotte was:
White: 50.02%
Black or African American: 35.03%
Asian: 6.23%
Other race: 5.48%
Two or more races: 2.87%
Native American: 0.31%
Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.06%

Sorry OP, your thread just went down in a ball of flames.
“This is one of the ugliest moments of political discourse,” said Braxton Winston, a Charlotte City Council member who was on the losing side of last summer’s 6-5 vote to approve a contract to host the 2020 Republican convention.
...
“Currently, we have no option to pull out,” said Dimple Ajmera, another city council member who opposed hosting the convention but now agrees the city is stuck with it.
They aren't second thoughts or regrets with these particular people... they never wanted it there.

Not to belabor the point, but it seems unlikely Charlotte has gotten whiter in the last decade and:
"According to the 2010 United States Census, the racial composition of Charlotte was 45.1% White or Caucasian, 35.0% Black or African American, 13.1% Hispanic or Latin American, 5.0% Asian, 0.5% Native American, 0.1% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, 6.8% some other race, and 2.7% two or more races."
So it would be accurate to state that a minority of the City is white....and, yes, lots of Hispanics are under the white category but they tend not to vote KKK........
Most places want those conventions due the the whoring and drinking and hotel and other revenues.....it's a real party. No one is going to diss Charlotte in the future due to having hosted the GOP....
That said, Charlotte ain't my cup of tea...but political conventions are not usually tied in with family trips to Disney World of the beach anyway.
The basic idea is to swing a swing state by having it in one....

the only people regretting are the kind of people there who think companies should be forced to allow men into women's restrooms.
