He says he'll be welcomed. I like him making this gesture. More Dems should realize they need to work with not against the President. Trump should visit.

Given recent events, I would be a little dubious of Cummings being able to arrange proper security. Perhaps he should demonstrate that he can safeguard his own house first.

Security for the president will not be in the hands of Cummings. It'll be in the hands of the Secret Service and other federal LE agencies, in coordination with local LE. I hope Trump goes to Baltimore. I hope he has a plan to move Baltimore forward - even slightly - in a more positive direction. I hope he has a chance to talk to real citizens who are directly impacted by conditions in that city.

I agree, he needs to go. He needs to show the people of BWI that he is willing to try.

Default Headline: "Trump Saves Baltimore"

Headline: "Trump Saves Baltimore" Resident senator shaken awake from his decades long slumber, where he was known for talking nonsense in his sleep.

Well this should prove to be an interesting sit down (if it is to ever happen).

I'm sure Pelosi, Schumer, just about every 2020 Clown Car hopeful, and every member of "The Squad" along with the entire lame stream media will be there to condemn his every word......

LOL! Liberals!....

Trump should go to Baltimore so he can show Cummings how much he has "done" for Blacks..........

Quote:
"What I've done for African Americans in two and a half years, no president has been able to do anything like it," Trump said. "Unemployment at the lowest level in the history of our country for African Americans — nobody can beat that. You look at poverty levels, they’re doing better than they’ve ever done before. So many things. Opportunity zones. Criminal justice reform — President Obama couldn’t get it done."
Donald J Trump

I agree, but I doubt it will get anywhere... Trump will say you got to clean up the cities and get criminals off the streets and Cummings will say no police allowed, hummmmph!

Back in my Jr year in high school the choir I was in did an exchange program with the Towson, MD high school choir. We went there for several days and got a tour of downtown Baltimore, among other things. This was back in (I think) 1981.

I was impressed with the large-scale renewal they were doing in much of the city at the time. There were huge areas west of downtown where they were fixing up all the rowhouses there all at once. I was so impressed, when I got back home I wrote the mayor, Donald Schaefer, a letter telling him I was impressed. I got a thank you letter back from him, and for several years afterwards I regularly received promotional and other items in the mail from the mayor of Baltimore.

Anyway, Baltimore has some of the most fantastic collection of rowhouses in the country. Beautiful city, even with the large dumpy areas. Trump, being a former real estate developer, should be able to appreciate it. At least I would hope.

And, not all of Baltimore is rowhouses. Plenty of green, leafy suburban areas in the northern parts of the city.

And of course, the Inner Harbor area downtown is really cool. When I was there the marketplace had just been finished a few years beforehand.

As usual, these political episodes calling such-and-such a city a "rathole" or whatever is pretty stupid. Yeah, some parts are a rathole. Large swaths of it are really nice. Same with my own city.
