Higher education gets wackier by the day. Now a professor is calling for the banning of grades because grades prop up capitalism and that grading, "redirects the blame for capitalism’s failures onto its victims." Very few things have not been banned on college campuses these days, and it looks like grades are next!

There are schools in cities like NYC with no grades. You stake standardized tests, etc...and move up without grades. These kids take SAT's, ACT's to get into college and they do and do well.
I don't know-- we all grew up with grades and look how great we all turned out.....

Hampshire College has operated without grades I believe since it was founded (1970). I had a friend from high school that went there. I always thought it a little strange. I would say it has worked for Hampshire but the college is in financial trouble right now and had been looking at merging with another college until alumns talked them down from it. https://www.hampshire.edu/discover-h...mic-philosophy
My grandkids went to schools that had no grading. One in NYC, 2 in Florida. Small classes made it possible for the teachers to do their jobs.
No grading, no standardized testing. Until the SATs. But they all did well enough to get at least half their college expenses paid. One got a full ride through a PhD.
Stop paying Pearson and use that money for smaller classes.
IMO, the competitive nature of all public education may be a reason for these loner young men shooting up places and killing.

im 63 went back to school at 45 and the grades were almost meaningless as everybody expected A's all the time...there is a school of thought in the "hard" sciences that certain liberal studies should not even count as much as say math or chemistry as they are very subjective and involve human behavior which is STILL mysterious in many ways

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that your grandkids, cherry picked due to parental income and attention to education and attending private schools did just fine without grades lmao.
As for your shooting theory being the fault of public education, well...I blame the increase in the US deer population. Well, not really but it's equally sound.
My kids got a full ride and a 1/2 ride to attend college with their measly public school educations and only committed a couple mass shootings. Since we're being stupid and using anecdotes. Derpity derp derp.
