Do people get to more than a pittance of what they earn in Vermont after all the taxes?
How much months after net pay does the average person have to work just to afford that huge property tax bill?
After traveling quite a bit over the country, the level of basic service tends to be relatively uniform with the exception of schools. Schools are a complementary for the family baby sitting service while hard-working taxpayers many of which don't have children have their money confiscated for something that should be parents responsibility to pay every penny in my opinion.
If the educational system is a bit better in Vermont then other states it doesn't really matter because the extra education and the possible extra earnings in many cases will go exclusively to property and income taxes.
$11,000-$12,000 a year for just property taxes alone for 2,500 square foot homes and then the state of Vermony confiscates 6.6% for the middle-class in income tax plus high sales taxes.
Property tax is reduced based on income for the majority of people in VT. Burlington is the most expensive place in VT as well and not representative of the rest of the state. Zillow property tax figures are almost never accurate in VT either, by the way.

So you OP are yet another poster who want us to abolish public education and move towards a more feudal society where private property rights (for the rich) are more important than democracy.
I dont get it, most of you are just ordinary working class folks, so look back at how the working class fared in your dream feudal society with no public education, extremely low federal taxes, no labor unions, extremely weak labor rights and high income and wealth inequality.
New Jersey makes Vermont's property taxes seem downright cheap. Some old, 2500 square foot house in Upper Montclair NJ on an acre of land, (where Stephen Colbert lives) can pay between $30,000 and $40,000 in property taxes. The Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy lives in a $9 million home and his yearly property tax bill is $206,000 a year. His salary of $170,000 doesn't even cover his property tax bill!
Vermont is where well-off New Jersey and New York residents have those inexpensive, summer homes. The old joke used to be that the upper West Side of Manhattan owns 3/4ths of Vermont!

Of course, America is promised a republican form, not a democracy, where a majority can legally persecute a minority.
And private property rights were abolished in 1933, with the socialist revolution of "saint" FDR, who "liberated" all the privately owned gold money and criminalized the possession of constitutional money by "Free" Americans.
Mandatory public education sounds like government administered propaganda - and it is. Not 1 in 100,000 Americans can accurately define the republican form, its source and origin. (No, it's not synonymous with a republic, nor is it a "constitutional republic." It existed BEFORE the USCON.)
Ironically, all the Leftist complaints aimed at the government are actually about the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America, in power since 1933. If you listen to them, all our problems will be solved by "more" socialism. Yeah, right.
