Trump didn't mention the NWS either when he contradicted them the second time. He simply explained to the press why he mentioned AL. They are the ones that blew it all out of proportion and created confusion.
The poorly worded NOAA memo is on them imo. Already said they could have handled it better.
They could have said something like Pres was briefed on wind maps which showed a low probability of TSF winds for AL. He's not typically briefed on county by county forecasts; our local NWS in analyzing this data forecast no impact to AL. We immediately updated the pres and the citizens of AL. Sorry for any confusion blah blah.
Instead lol they blamed it on the Coast Guard and NWS and washed their hands of it...…...creating even more confusion and controversy.
The confusion starts when you have a President of the United States who doesn't consider it necessary to have anyone fact check his tweets - the information that he's sending out to millions of Americans. He was given briefings, had access to all sorts of expertise and still got it wrong. Authors hire fact checkers. Newspapers used to, not so much now. But not the POTUS.
There's a world of difference between ineffective communication to explain your point and dishonesty.
I haven't rubber-stamped what he said/did.
For whatever reason, he thought there was a potential for impact in AL. We don't know why other than the wind probability maps provided to him said there was a potential. We have no info on how or if that was explained to him.
My current local forecast from NWS says there's a 10% chance of showers/thunderstorms for Friday. Yet, the crazy emo scientists at NWS now want me to believe they shouldn't tell people in AL when there's a 10% chance of Tropical Storm Force winds. Sorry, that does not compute. They cant have it both ways.
The NWS pretty much never officially forecasts anything with a 10% chance of occurrence. It's too low of a probability to be reliable, especially beyond a day or 2. Even same-day forecasts from the NWS won't include that. You continue to be wrong about everything.

Sure they do. I just saw one yesterday. They even have a standard for reporting it. Usually, they report it in a forecast as a slight chance or isolated possibility.

Just to be clear, the current point of dispute - I THINK? - is the accuracy of the tweet issued by the NWS on Sunday (Sept. 1) correcting Trump's earlier tweet about Alabama and hurricanes:
NWS TWEET: "Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian," the organization tweeted. "We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east."
TRUMP TWEET: "In addition to Florida - South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated. Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"
This is the best use of HIS time....and that sums it all up there.
He needs to retire -- -get on Fox or his own network and be done with it all.
His INSANITY is showing, you knows he is PO'D because he was ignored on all the news channels, for days and days, by hurricane Dorian,LOL,LOL,LOL!
