I don’t think there’s any opioid-free college campuses, nor do I think that schools, parents, and PSA say to “just say no” to opioids, nor is anyone saying that you should have to be 21 to use opioids, nor are movies banned from showing characters use opioids, etc.
I think the relatively innocent act of vaping, which most thought was safe, may not be shown to need testing and regulation. I don't smoke but if I found that nicotine was a good drug (I hear it is not), I'd have no objection to vaping it...until now.
I still think your basic 1 hit THC vape is OK........but we'll see.
Hey, let us know where we can pick up those opiate refill pods. I can't find them in my rec store!
More importantly, you must stand on that assembly line and install seats......maybe opiates would help?
Two small things changed my outlook on opiates.....
1. I had a guy frame a new garage for me - he was 45 or so but had hurt himself in a fall (construction). He told me flat out that without daily opiates he wouldn't be plying his trade any longer. He was perfectly lucid and normal.....but could function.
2. I read a book about some nomadic warriors (muslim, in this case), but an American was traveling with them. They were humping impossible distances and living with almost no luxuries. Muslims, as you may know, are against intoxicants. BUT, every evening these guys would chew opium and Tobacco. It wasn't even considered a drug - but it was what kept them going.
Another couple history stories - Ben Franklin took opium daily for the last years of his life for gout...it allowed him to live much longer and he was actually carried into the Constitutional Convention!
When the Transcontinental RR was built, the Irish worked from the east and the Chinese from the west. The Irish crews were followed by train cars of whores, liquor, gambling...and, of course, there were fights and murders, etc.
The Chinese worked every bit as hard - some claimed better and harder. They asked for two things - fresh vegetables and Opium on Sundays.
I see myself as preferring the later lifestyle....
Nancy tried "just say no" it was a no-go...opiates have been around for thousands of year and filled a need...we have a citizenry filled with self-righteous moralizers who know next to nothing about addiction determine the rules of our society
I really wish people would stay out of other people's business and not worry about either.
Agree on the vaping, but opioid use does lead to impaired driving and property crimes. Both of which affect people other than the user. So, like drunk driving, it gets to the point it is everybody's business when it becomes an addiction.
