Which is why our healthcare costs and insurance rates are so high.
4 reasons our healthcare costs are so high:
1. We are a nation of lard-asses
2. We have to pay for illegals and irresponsible idiots
3. Lottery lawsuits
4. Over- burdensome regulations
There was a similar case a few years back. I remember the salon owner explaining that she had problems with her chairs breaking due to extremely overweight customers, and the chairs were expensive to replace.
It's an unfortunate situation, but it does seem reasonable for a business to refuse service if the customer is likely to damage the equipment.
I bet I walk by about 10 nail salons here in downtown Bellevue every day on my daily 2-3 mile walks. She could just go to another shop.
Yeah, but they don't draw on social security until they're 95 either.
Not to go off subject but: I read an article the other day where a guy waited until he was 70 years old to collect SS and he said he regretted it. He said he had all kinds of health problems and wondered how much longer he would be around? I say collect earlier. At least you will be around to spend the money.
I've worked in medical and some breathing machines don't work well with obese people. And osme of the hoyer lifts won't take their weights if they are over 500 pounds. There are all kinds of issues. People need to ask themselves how they are getting to over 500 pounds. They'll say it's their metabolism and "bad genes". They will blame it on anything but over-eating. But obesity like this wasn't common 50 years ago so it's not genetics. They're lying. I won't censor my speech.
I see a business opportunity. I can start welding up chairs and tables made out of metals with a leather wrap for all of these 500 lbers. Might not be comfortable but they won't break.
I'm sure it's not easy to go through life being very overweight. I'm not going to judge this woman because I don't know her, personally. (The mean comments on this thread aimed at her weight, are just that. MEAN.) However, as far as the nail salon...So what were to happen if the chair DID break or she fell off of the chair, etc. and she was injured? Perhaps Rose's Nail Salon would soon be getting a lawsuit filed against them?
The business owner has every right to refuse service.
Perfect opportunity for another person to start a nail salon and offer larger chairs that cater to a larger clientele.
No, they are not mean.
Mean comments - about things that you have no control: Race, height, age, disabilities.
Weight is a choice. She CHOOSE to eat like a pig and not to do sport.
