... And her fellow Democrats on the Trenton NJ Council came to her defense. They all said it was a simply a verb meaning "to negotiate." Also, another council member, this one in Patterson, NJ, said in a meeting that a developer tried to "Jew him down."

I also would like to point out that these elected Democrats who used the expression, along with their defenders, are black. Wouldn't you think that officials fighting bigotry against their own people would be caredul not to advance it against another people who are victims of bigotry?

That's okay, Nj dems have immunity from spontaneous social justice courts and the media.

As if it never happened. Nothing to see here in NJ.

The land where socialist dems run free, forever.

AOC et al approve!

Criminal to call an illegal alien and illegal alien or use the wrong pronoun in some towns and universities.

So true! Leftists want to outlaw pronouns because saying "he" is offensive, and then defend someone saying "Jew down" as an appropriate phrase to use when describing negotiation,

I think both the Trenton councilwoman and the Paterson councilman should be pressured to step aside.

MEH -- I would argue that partisan politics makes hypocrites of everyone.'
Lefties, righties all are hypocrites.

Jew down is definitely an inappropriate term for a political figure to use. And defending it is definitely partisan politics on steroids.'

It was inappropriate....end of story

You say that because you are a liberal, and liberals downplay and accept outright antisemitism among their elected officials. When they use a horrible antisemitic slur, it's "yeah, it was inappropriate, but let's move on." You know damn well that if a white Republican were to have made some awful slur against blacks during a Council meeting, you wouldn't be saying "end of story." You'd be calling for his head.

Black anti-semitisim is an egregious example of ingratitude. Jews have always been in the forefront of the civil rights movement, more than any other group. This is how many blacks show their gratitude.

.I clearly said it was wrong, inappropriate and wrong for anyone to defend the use of the term.

But you didn't see that......

No where did I say that in my post did I suggest 'move on'. I believe in consequences for inappropriate behavior and clearly have stated that numerous times. I'm not anti-cancel culture....I believe when you do something wrong, inappropriate you suffer the consequences.

And when Republicans choose inappropriate language or behavior I say the same thing - -their actions or words were wrong and they deserve what ever consequence they have.

But let's be clear......Republicans excuse Republicans and Democrats excuse Democrats.

You are assigning thoughts, ideas and words to me that aren't accurate.

Sadly that is a colloquialism that many/most don't take the time to consider the bigoted origins/aspects of.

I've certainly heard people use it, people whom I am certain don't view Jewish folks as "less than".

By calling it out when it happens, we can hopefully get rid of its usage.

This is nothing.

A (Democrat and AA if that matters) DC Councilman tweeted that Jews were responsible for the weather.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...zes/437639002/

And of course he is still in office.

One must ask, what is more disturbing? The Antisemitism or the sheer lunacy that this elected miscreant believes?

I swear, were I Jewish, I would be flattered by the superhuman qualities attributed to me.
