I think the whistleblower complained to Schiff/and other Demoncrats and that is when Schiff seized the opportunity to make this into an ugly situation, and he himself fabricating the transcript by turning it into a "parody" where he added his own words to try and make it look worse than it was.

I don’t think Schiff is the leaker but I tend to agree that the whistleblower will probably need to come before Congress if impeachment has any chance.

But the "right to face your accuser" as laid out in the 6th amendment is specifically limited to criminal complaints. Impeachment hearing are specifically NOT CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS.

Additionally, whistleblowers at the federal level are further protected by the whistleblower protection act. In fact even trying to out the whistleblower by anyone in the federal government is a violation of this act and is thus illegal.
