The test is a "real world" test of combat. If a large number of women can't hack it, they can't hack combat. And if that is the case, why are they in the Army?

Army Combat Fitness Test Fiasco! Slides Reveal 84% of Women Failing ACFT
As a girl....most guys were much better in gym...and in cross-gender sports. I sincerely think it is mother nature.
The author assumes it is bias in the test against women...men are kind of better on average than us at most physical stuff to be perfectly honest.
The test should be tailored properly to what is needed in combat and then administered from there. Some women will pass and some men will fail....but men will probably pass at higher rates....we can't guarantee an even-steven outcome if we want the best military.

HEY - watch that gender bias stuff in the New World Order. We aren't supposed to notice that testosterone causes larger muscle growth in men or that women have less lung capacity. We are whatever gender we wish to be. [/sarcasm]
Women should not be anywhere near a battlefield, and not just because they can't perform physical tasks as well as Men. It affects unit psychology and combat effectiveness also.
Funny enough though, you can really suck at the leg tuck or standing power throw and the enemy is every bit as dead when you shoot them in the face....or when your drone blows them up.
So while it's true that there are roles in the military that 99.9% of women have no business being in, there's a ton others where they do just fine and in many cases can be better than their male counterparts.
7 years Army. I'd have a woman in my fire team, IF they're squared away, and strong enough to do some of the male stuff.
Some examples:
Fireman-carry 250 lbs (this is generally harder for a woman but, if they can fireman carry 200lbs, we'll see...)
Kick in doors, test on differing doors while wearing full battle-rattle.
Man or woman, head needs to be on a swivel.
A strong idiot is still an idiot. A smart wimp is still a wimp. Man or woman, I'll have either but, they got to be BOTH strong and smart. ...and I have to trust you.
However, it is has been proven that all other conditions being equal, men due to their biochemistry are usually bigger and stronger than females, such that females are at an extreme disadvantage in un-armed combat. And for you feminist who are gonna say, well women don't get disarmed -NO. SHUT UP!- Weapons jam, ammo runs out, guns get dropped or broken etc... all women aren't Serena Williams, hell, most men aren't Serena Williams...
Being in the military should be open to all, if you can pass the test - go for what you are able to do. There are women fighter pilots - shoot the plane that jumps into a hurricane for stats Is flown by females.
Not all men can handle war-seen by the horrible number of suicides. Test, and let them put you to work in what you are good at. Unfortunately during war times-they just wants bodies. To me all kids need give 2 yrs after high school, like other countries.

Actually, the militia duty requirement is 17-45 (Federal). Each state has it's own requirements, too.
But due to sufficient volunteers, there is no need to operate "Selective Service" to fill the billet.

There are plenty of things women can do in the military, but their suitability to serve in physically demanding roles like infantry has always been in doubt, so this is nothing new.
