Medal of Freedom to Meese, the corrupt AG that resigned and should have been convicted, that Ed Meese.
Nice touch with him complimenting William Barr for his good work at the ceremony.
Why?
Quote:
Meese resigned as attorney general in August 1988 after becoming ensnared in a probe of Wedtech Corp., a New York defense contractor. An independent prosecutor began looking at Meese's record of assistance to Wedtech. A 14-month corruption investigation ended in a decision not to prosecute Meese, but a report by the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility said Meese had violated ethical standards.
Trump said Meese delivered "monumental change for the American people" as attorney general and cited the Reagan administration's efforts against drug use, which Trump said proved successful with lower drug use by young adults.
"Surrounded by his wife of 61 years, Ursula, as well as the couple's children, grandchildren and great-grandson, Meese, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom after much praise from Trump who regarded him as "a loyal fighter for freedom, a champion of law and order, mentor to young Americans, and faithful defender of our Republic."
"You are an inspiration to liberty-loving citizens everywhere," Trump said. "You're just an inspiration, period. Everybody that knows you uses that word: You're an inspiration.""
They left off his defense of Iran Contra and the criticism by Cox of his nomination, good thing he resigned because Reagan wasn't firing him. I guess we are running low on the list of Medal of Honor recommendations.
Pres.Ed Meese that said it was OK to sell missiles to Iran Meese? Bechtel's Ed Meese? Webtech's Meese? What's the point of holding a high position if you can't make a few bucks from it?
No surprise here. Just another let's praise each other reunion of the ethically and morally challenged. Meese and Barr. What's the difference?
Republicans sure do love their criminals, don't they?
