Almost all of California's problems can be tied to liberalism.

And the fact that PG&E has failed to do proper maintenance on miles and miles of power lines and transformer stations to avoid starting “wild fires” is due to LIBERALISM vs corporate greed???

Kant is so uninformed...

Not only that, but many of the problem in the USA originate from California and their liberal ideals. It's a tragedy that so many of their policies end up spreading east across the rest of the USA. I wish they weren't so generous and giving

You mean leftists? I am a liberal but not a lefty. There’s a difference.

Again, I don’t think it’s fair to say this is a political thing.

Lots of Federal firefighters left firefighting as a result. The fire acreage increased dramatically in 2003 since nobody was willing to put their family economic situation at risk..
Yeah, she seems real hostile to those firefighters...

Ha ha ha.... another California bashing thread. It's out of date already, the power's back on and has been on.

Yer damn right California has the No. 1 economy in the USA. LIBERALISM plus CAPITALISM works, and it works very well, like yin and yang. The government-private sector partnership in this state has built this economy over the years, with big investments in world class universities, a diversified economy, a good but aging transportation network, the push for green energy. All of these government investments and active policies laid a foundation for business to take root and grow.

Now look at the low tax, low wage red states. All utter failures, except Texas, but that's a one trick pony built on gas and oil. If conservative economics worked, states like Mississippi, Alabama, Kansas, and South Carolina would be economic powerhouses. They are anything but, precisely because they don't have a government that believes in being an active partner in investing in and growing the economy!

Okay, 'nuff said, /end of rant

Because tornadoes are rare here. One hasn't gone through town since 1990. Until they subsided earthquakes were a bigger worry and nuisance.

NO. Would you rather live in Oklahoma, rather than in California? NO way? I thought so.

I would take OK over CA any day. CA looks like a 3rd world country. The nice weather can be enjoyed in many other 3rd world places around the world, for a fraction of the cost and taxes/wealth confiscation.

Then she should introduce legislation to repeal the personal liability of Federal firefighters when working as a Federal employee. It was HER LEGISLATION....surely the Congress will repeal it if she admits her mistake.

Likewise, she after 15 years, admitted she was wrong about the Bush Healthy Forest Initiative (which see killed).....oh wait....she just RAN ON IT for re-election like it was hers in her last election.

As a Forester....that was there.......Senator Cantwell is EVERYTHING that is wrong with POLITICIANS in this country. SHe is just scum...period.

I saw the pain she caused to respected, honest Federal employees doing their best. I saw the number of Federal firefighters that LEFT. I saw the increase in fire acreage burned, the homes lost, due to Senator Cantwell's decisions.

Sorry....not going to forgive her. Senator Cantwell is WHAT IS WRONG with POLITICIANS these days.

Senator Cantwell knows how hated she is in the professional firefighting community. She is afraid, that the public might NOTICE how little respect firefighters have for her.

Is that a strong enough, professional opinion for you??
