Second Stimulus Check Update: Democrats’ New $2.2 Trillion Dollar Bill Includes $1,200 Stimulus Checks, PPP Funding

In a last-ditch effort to get a stimulus package passed before the election, Democrats revealed on Monday a slimmed-down version of the HEROES Act—with a slimmed-down price tag to match.

_____________

What Does the Pared-Down HEROES Act Include?

The big ones are:
  • Another round of $1,200 stimulus checks for qualifying Americans ($1,200 per qualifying individual, $2,400 for qualifying joint returns and $500 per dependent)
  • $436 million for state and local government aid
  • A Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) extension for small businesses
  • Temporary federal funding for $600-a-week extended unemployment benefits (the program extension is slated to end on March 31, 2021)
  • $75 billion for coronavirus testing
  • Assistance for essential and emergency workers, including paid sick time
  • $25 billion in aid for airlines

The Big Question: Can This Bill Pass?

They should give us more. Make us equal to the corporations that also got stimulus. $1200 is not going to make me change my spending habits, so really means nothing. I doubt will for most people. At most will help few people pay one month rent, and then back to eviction processes. Or maybe try 12 michelin star restaurants one time each.

Corporations got stimulus to keep people on the payroll, so that went to directly benefit workers to the tune of thousands per worker for those who worked at such corporations.

Moving on, there was also the beefed up employment benefits, which gave people an extra $600 per week for months; so the benefit to impacted persons was far more than $1,200 then. I'm curious to know if it'll be far more than $1,200 per this most recent bill . . . I don't know if additional unemployment benefits are established also.

Probably. Trump seems to be hell-bent on more stimulus, and Democrats have never passed up a chance to spend more money.

I say no more stimulus bill should be passed. A mere $1200 to individuals does nothing compared to the huge amount being spent. If they are going to be passing TRILLIONS of dollars, I say most of the trillion should go to tax payers directly and not to poorly run cities and big corps and especially not to the Illegals.

Just open up the economy and we don't need to have trillions of dollars spend on businesses to pay their employees and big corps taking our tax dollars and the extra payment for unemployment wouldn't be necessary.

How much, and I really don't know, is going to non-Covid issues?

If it is one dollar it should be rejected.

Exactly what I'll be using it for. My rent is $1,050/mo, so this check will come and go. But I am very grateful that I can work from home, and my job is paying my Internet and phone bill until May of 2021. It could be worse, and sadly I know many are struggling.

Who qualifies? Is it the same standard as the last stimulus? I don’t feel like the expense is worth it.

Some of you are sounding like the check is in the mail. I'm not the only one who doesn't think this will pass.
