The problem is that it makes it easy for people to buy houses that can't afford them. We learned this back in 2008-2010. What will these people do when they need a new roof that costs $10k? What about when they need a new a/c unit that costs $6k? Where will they get the money then?

FALSE. Lots of young people as well as teachers and nurses and police and firefighters and other middle income workers can afford the mortgage/upkeep of a home and often they already are paying rent that's higher than a mortgage. But because they are just starting out(or were furloughed due to covid), often they haven't saved the full down payment yet. Or if they had a 12 month out-of-work stint due to the economic impact of Covid, they might have lived off savings that was intended to be the down payment for a home (before Covid hit).

. theres plenty of homeowners insurance for that stuff. This doesn't mean everyone is going to be buying homes they can't afford. What does continuing to financially bailout the billionaires/millionaires accomplishing anyways? Just widening the income gap? Ever notice every time a republican runs things its financially goes to hell?

...similar to the $7,500 tax credit created by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act signed by President George W. Bush in July 2008. The credit was raised to $8,000 the following year in a bill signed by President Barack Obama. The programs expired in 2010.

... Biden proposal specifies the credit is “up to” $15,000. The Bush and Obama programs gave a credit equal to 10% of the purchase price of the home, capped at a maximum of $7,500 or $8,000, depending on when the purchase was made.
actually, the last program became just a credit if you lived in the house long enough.

there's zero reason to have another housing credit - twice as large to boot! - at this time. There is zero sign that buyers don't want to buy, which WAS the issue given at the time (2008/2009)

homeowner's insurance does not generally cover a new roof and it sure doesn't cover an HVAC. It would likely cover damage from a burst water heater.
