It's also pension, healthcare, and travel perks. Also, he wouldn't be able to hold federal office. The latter is the most compelling for republicans IMO. The idea of Trump running independent in 2024 could be detrimental to the conservative candidate.
Oh and by the way Pence is in charge right now, not Biden or Trump. He is more powerful than the president because he can fire Trump with one letter. Trump can’t fire him. Therefore, Trump either allows Pence to run things the way he wants or gets fired by him.

Agreed! He didn’t pay income taxes anyway. He tried to reverse an election. When you do that, and lose, you need to pay for your damage to democracy.
Impeachment and conviction will have consequences even if done after Biden is president. Trump will lose the benefit of retirement and secret service protection and will be barred from future elective office. It negates the normal privileges given to former presidents and limits his options. It is like the country wiping its shoes after stepping in dog crap.
He may face federal charges anyway. He can't pardon himself and pissed off Pence.
