As thunder follows the lightning, as darkness follows the sunset, the day after Democrats fail once again to find President Trump guilty of anything in their Impeachment Show Trial, President Biden is now calling for laws and reforms to crack down on law-abiding gun owners. Criminals, of course, will not obey such laws, only the law-abiding will let themselves be restricted by them.

Biden, of course, did not mention such problems with those his laws target, only trying to jerk the heart-strings (for the third year in a row) of people who lost loved ones at Douglas High School in Parkland, FL.

Most of his suggested "reforms" have been tried before, only to be ignored by the people who typically commit horrific acts such as the shootings at the Parkland high school and others. Despite their repeated failures to reduce the number of shootings and killings over the years, Biden nonetheless refers to them as "Commonsense Gun Reforms", as if making new laws has ever had an effect of the kind of people who shoot up schools. Inevitably, Democrats appear ready to accept them, paying little attention to their track record of ineffectiveness as well as the flat prohibitions against making such laws commanded in the Constitution.

Biden calls for 'commonsense gun law reforms' on anniversary of Parkland shooting
by John Bowden - 02/14/21 01:36 PM EST

President Biden called on Congress to pass "commonsense gun law reforms" on Sunday in a message marking the third anniversary of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

"Today, as we mourn with the Parkland community, we mourn for all who have lost loved ones to gun violence," Biden said in a statement released by the White House.

In the statement, the president called for several specific provisions to be adopted into legislation by Congress, including an end to legal immunity for gun manufacturers, a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and an expansion of federal background checks.

Congressional and local Democrat misleaders that encouraged the Summer of Insurrection while turning a blind eye to lawlessness should be held civilly and legally accountable.

Big Tech social media that allowed the Summer of Insurrection to be planned and organized on their platforms should be held civilly and legally accountable.

However, there should be no need for legal immunity for gun manufacturers as they are manufacturing weapons under current laws, thus no just reason to be held accountable.

Look, every decision of Biden so far has been against the interests of hard-working, law-abiding, patriotic US citizens.

This is just going to add ond more to the list.

I wonder if we'll see SCOTUS take on some 2nd Amendment cases now. They've been avoiding them for a loooong time.

It is true that Biden has been concentrating a lot on fringe groups - transgenders, homeless who can't help themselves (a lot of homeless can and do), illegal immigrant children who crossed the border without parents, etc.

There's nothing wrong with helping fringe groups. But the bulk of his efforts should be directed toward the bulk of the U.S. population (shouldn't that go without saying?). And they should have the effect of helping the bulk of the US population.

Laws that restrict, say, the right to keep and bear arms only for people who obey laws, are hurting the bulk of the population (the law-abiding). And it's the part of the population that weren't causing the problem. And worst of all, he's got to directly violate the U.S. Constitution to make those laws.

Biden has to take a step back and try to figure out what his job as President really is.

The 2nd amendment basically says that since a militia is necessary, no govt can make a law that restricts ordinary citizens from owning or carrying guns or other such weapons.

IOW government can have NO SAY in who can own or carry one, PERIOD.

Our friends of the southpaw persuasion spend incredible amounts of time trying to come up with exceptions to this rule.

But it should take them only a few seconds. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

This rule (2A) is the most common-sense rule there can be. When govt has ANY say in who can own or carry a gun, the results for society are ALWAYS worse. And therefore, government is not allowed to control that, period.

You can argue all day over whether we should have a rule so complete and unequivocal in this country. That's debatable. But you can't argue (without sounding illiterate and stupid, can't you read what's on the paper in front of you?) that we don't have such a law. We simply do, and it's the Law of the Land.

Gun control is impossible. So Biden can sign whatever executive order he wants, but on this one issue, DC will never be in control. Never.

There would be thousands upon thousands of sanctuary counties spread across the US.

The only way to get guns out of big Democratic cities is to stop and frisk plus home search and seizure. The left has already determined those practices to be racist.

So we will continue to live exactly as we are, around 500 million guns in private hands. Which is a good thing, so the government doesn’t end up pulling a Stalin someday.

I'd rather keep Noem knowing she'll pass state laws nullifying federal meddling with guns versus worrying about pot for now. If Biden tries pulling this crap before the 2022 elections he'll just cause a red wave.

The first thing they need to do is end the special protection the gun makers have under the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA). That law protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products.
