Amen. Now if someone can show us stats per say 1,000 interactions with police with a suspicion of felonious behavior , then broken down by demographic data, that would be enlightening.
Then supplement the data with more data on stats for resisting arrest, trying to take the cop's gun, et cetera, we'd have an even better picture.
That is a load of___. The blacks killed by police are almost always involved with criminal behavior and almost always have a long criminal record. Most of them are common thugs.
I wish they wouldn't use the slogan 'defund the police' because the sane people who want to fund police LESS, want it to be a gradual thing.
Putting more money into things that prevent crime rather than constantly enforcing it makes sense to me, but it does have to be gradual.
In the meantime my city is giving more money to police because it takes more money to train them on how to deal with mental illness, and train them better overall to de-escalate.
They ought to take funds away from other wasteful programs instead of the police. There are other crime prevention programs besides police that get funds, but its all just some scam. They need to fix the corruption first. Defunding the police is the last thing anyone should be thinking of when there is so much waste already.
Lie, damn lies, and statistics. Notice that the rates they use are compared to the general population, not the population of folks suspected of committing crimes so the relevance is specious as best. Also, the numbers in the article:

can be interpreted that black folks kill white folks at a higher rate than the general black population, while white folks kill black folks at a significantly smaller rate vs the general population. Also, assuming that the 92% of the black folks not being killed by white folks are, in the majority, actually being killed by black folks, that doesn't paint a pretty picture for black offenders and the rate of homicides being committed by blacks.
