A dangerous police chase Wednesday on State Highway 15 South in Hutchinson began when a 61-year-old rural Hutchinson man refused to wear a mask in Menards.

The criminal complaint against Luke Alvin Oeltjenbruns alleges that he ignored multiple law enforcement commands and led police on multiple pursuits in the area of the Hutchinson Mall, South Grade Road and Highway 15. The incident culminated in a scene that’s gained national attention, with Oeltjenbruns ramming police vehicles and taking off at a high rate of speed while Hutchinson police officer Steve Sickmann hangs onto the driver’s side door, his arm trapped in the window.

“It’s extremely dangerous. I can only imagine what was going through (Sickmann’s) mind at the time. He could have been killed as a result of this,” Hutchinson Police Chief Tom Gifferson said during a press conference Friday, during which he and McLeod County Sheriff Tim Langenfeld provided more details of the incident.

It began around 1:50 p.m. when police were dispatched to Menards, where Oeltjenbruns, who has no prior criminal record, had refused requests to wear a mask. When told he could not purchase items without a mask, he refused and began to leave the store without paying. Oeltjenbruns then allegedly assaulted an employee who attempted to stop him.

“He actually had pieces of floor trim, and that is what was used,” Langenfeld said. “He jabbed at the employee with a piece of that, and then swung at him. (The employee) was able to get that away, and then (Oeltjenbruns) used his hands. … and assaulted the employee in the head and face area.”

Langenfeld said the employee suffered minor injuries, including bruising and a headache.

MN..not wearing a mask is more dangerous than waving a gun.

I'm just waiting for the first death report. "But he wouldn't put on his mask" and won't be the least bit surprised.

Imagine what it's going to be like when they start enforcing vaccine papers. To think, my family fought and died in WW1 and WW2 to stop this kind of dictatorship.

Yep.

Either way, it's all stupid. To think, if they had just listened to Trump long ago about shutting our borders down and tightening the security, we might have been able to nip this thing in the bud before it started. And isn't it funny, the first cases happened in liberal Washington State. Where Bill Gates has his headquarters, and just so happens to have ties with Wuhan, the place that the virus originated.

And even then, the warmer weather was starting and it looked like the virus was going away, but then all of a sudden, like clock work, here comes the Floyd case along with the riots, most of the people not wearing masks or practicing social distance.

Churches and restaurants forced to close up, but yet it's okay to smash people into airplanes. Kids can't go to school or have to wear masks, but yet it's perfectly fine for illegal immigrants to come over with all their kids with no masks, no shots, no social distancing.

Please, wake the hell up and see this thing for what it is!

The actual term used at the beginning was "Public Health Concern" and the "typhus carriers" were given yellow stars to sew on their clothes to warn the public.

Here's my vaccine papers...

They're cylindrical in shape, made of lead & copper, and travel beyond the speed of sound!

As long as we are blowing smoke forty thousand entered from China after the shut down.

The first cases in my town were from a church tour of Egypt returning via Europe.

Lots of charges here, including felony assault

https://www.wboc.com/story/43691172/...er-mask-demand

Oeltjenbruns couldn’t check out unless he put on a mask

Oeltjenbruns tried to leave with his merchandise without paying , prompting the cashier to grab his cart.

Oeltjenbruns hit the cashier with a piece of lumber.

Oeltjenbruns closed the window on the officer's arm, trapping him, and drove off, crashing into squad cars.

Officer Sickmann tried to use a rescue hammer to break the window, but Oeltjenbruns took it from him and hit him on the head with it.

Oeltjenbruns was eventually arrested. The complaint says the officer's injuries included a head wound.

What a nutcase. Multiple physical and vehicular assaults on others over a damn mask. Clearly a timeout in the pokey is called for.
