Even more troubling are all the facebook comments on my local news station’s post cheering the airline on.
Capitalism baby! Like it and live it or leave.
BTW, transparent masks are ineffective because air does not go through them. Therefore a person exhales and inhales through the sides effectively breathing on passengers on either side of them.

I saw a woman today in Walmart pull down her mask to cough and then put it back up when she was done coughing.
Interesting if you read the article. The owner of the company already knew he had problems with that mask and the airlines and had made another version that was travel friendly. The woman's mask does look "mesh" like. How's the airline person supposed to figure that out in the few minutes they interact with you.
The woman was looking for her 15 minutes of social media fame. Instead, she lost her seat on the flight and was murdered on social media. America’s message to this woman: Bye Beeyatch.
If the passenger really wanted to wear that specific mask, she could have kept it on and placed the airline provided mask on top of her mask. This way the airline is happy because she's wearing an airline approved mask, and passenger is happy because she gets to wear her mesh mask, which she seemed intent on wearing. It wouldn't suffocate her to wear both masks while on the short flight, which is less than 1 hour. Sure beats missing the flight over a stale mate with the airline.

This seems a good method to weed out passengers who are thorns in everyone's side.
Anyone who won't put on the damn mask the airline requires, is probably likely to refuse to do other things that make flying unpleasant for fellow passengers.
a polycarbonate face shield/mask hybrid that's completely clear, so you can actually see the person's face underneath.
Clear masks have only three points of contact — including a bottom edge that's totally open — means that it obviously doesn't form a super tight seal around your face.
the mask leaves large gaps near your cheeks and chin if you have a small face.
the fit and materials are not conducive to blocking or filtering smaller viral particles in the same way a well-fitted cloth or surgical mask would."
