The reason some people [mainly male] seem to be obsessed with homosexuality is called "homosexual panic" associated with a fear of contagion. The fear that the individual will surrender to homosexual urgings. In-fact the typically virulent anti-gay person has occasional sex with another man & then feels guilty & angry [violently] toward gay men.
These preoccupations with other people's sex behavior suggests an almost pathological repression of self & a thinking that gays are responsible for tempting men into sex.

But yes, I agree, and I've seen it myself. And I've seen many of those people eventually come out of the closet, too.
