True, all kinds of different people & political persuasions stage hate crimes.. but I think it's a false equivalence to compare an everyman Trump supporter setting up a bogus insurance claim to guys like Jussie Smollett & (potentially) LeBron James reporting fake hate crimes. Jessie & James have a national platform, that they both used, to chastise White racists after their incidents. The guy you cite was basically an ordinary, powerless guy.
After James reported his gate was tagged with racist graffiti (graffiti that was not there when police arrived), he gave a public (blanket) statement that indicted White America's racism, and he invoked the name of Emmitt Till's mom. I'd say the scope of the stage is a lot different, even tho the criminality of the frauds are the same. And in fairness, James' account was never really scrutinized so it's still accepted as having been authentic..
For a segment of the population, I believe that "racism" has become the same sort of boogieman that conspiracy theory has become for others. Any close parallel of misfortune coupled with no rational explanation seems to be all that is required to set the wheels in motion. And thereafter any attempt to establish truth is dismissed as "cover up".
So, they gotta come up with these "incidents" if for no other reason than to reinforce the worthiness of their cause
I tried to find an update on this and there is *nothing* out there after she was charged.
No sentencing, no plea deal, no suspension or expulsion....nothing.
If someone else has an update, please share.
Also, anything on the juvenile(s) and the HBCU bomb threats?
Pretty suspicious how that one just went so quiet. I understand it's juveniles but they can still state "a juvenile has been charged with a hate crime" etc. but they haven't which makes me wonder if the person\people that did it aren't white.

Chances are, the authorities agreed to dismiss her actions as a "mistake" and drop it, rather than be portrayed as "heavy-handed" or even "racist" by race-baiters.
