A man was shot in the chest inside a New York City subway station on Sunday night, around the same time police released horrifying video showing a suspect hitting a woman in the face and head with human feces, authorities have said.
Several subway riders have been attacked or otherwise targeted by alleged criminals in the days since New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced his crackdown on the transit system, with the deployment of additional officers and resources. On Sunday, a 27-year-old man was standing on the L-train platform inside Brooklyn’s Broadway Junction subway station around 10:10 p.m. when he and another person began arguing, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.
Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the subways were so out of control that the trains themselves were covered top to bottom in graffiti. There's a reason why this movie, and this scene within the movie, resonated with so many people:

The victim, a 43-year-old woman who remains unidentified at the time of this reporting, said that the suspect then went on to smear the contents of the bag on the back of her head and onto her clothing.
The suspect took off on foot, and police are continuing to seek him for questioning in connection with the disturbing incident.
This poo d'état is just the latest in a string of bizarre incidents that have taken place in the city subways.
Earlier this month, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new plan aimed to fight violence on public transportation.
Ya hate to say it but, at some point....maybe New Yorkers should start to blame themselves for all this.
After all, we all know the definition of insanity, and the Empire electorate has been engaging in lunacy for quite a while now.

AOC has been making excuses for the perpetrators for over several months now.
