As unorthodox as this appears, is this different from a credit card company seeking the advice of a career personal identity thief, in learning how to help their clients avoid having their identities stolen? Finding out the behaviors and methods of an accomplished identity thief would be a very good start to preventing it and customers would surely welcome this information.

Johns Hopkins is a world leader. Their efforts to "prevent perpetration of child sex abuse" will change the world. And now, because at a glance this seems shocking, it's very likely this highly regarded hospital/health care system will have to rethink going in this direction for insider information to help in their quest to make children's lives better.

They're not trying to normalize pedophilia. Exactly the opposite. They're trying to get insider information on how to prevent perpetration.

Home school your kids. Home school your Grandkids. Take the financial bite if you have to. There is nothing more important than our children. Protect them and guard them from these evil scum until they are old enough to protect themselves. I have completely changed my retirement plans so I can do exactly this.

First of all why does every thread turn political? This has nothing to do with politics. As a former social worker that worked with abused children I find this disgusting and hoping that they fire this person. Kids that are sexually abused face a lifetime of issues. Sometimes they abuse children when they grow up. I find this sickening.

I get where you're coming from.

Unfortunately, it is now inherently political.

One Party is constantly trying to cover this stuff up, and even protecting a sick agenda that has proliferated throughout our education system, and the other Party is practicing sunlight as the best disinfectant.

And, what's more, the voters have caught on.

Bottom line?

If you vote Democrat, you're voting for this stuff - whether you choose to acknowledge the ugly reality or not.

Insider information. Ok so this person who clearly has a jumbled thought process (walker) can teach others about a similarly jumbled thought process? Do you think they know they were hired to be a cautionary tale?

Because after Googling "who invented the term minor attracted person," I found this and absolutely STOPPED GOOGLING because of where the term took me down the pedophile rabbit hole.

I'm still kinda shook, actually.

Re: the bolded....Oh my word, I noticed this myself recently. Is this (serious question) something akin to a white flag? Saying F it, there's just too much wrong with people in new and deranged ways. If nothing is off limits as abnormal, we're all essentially different types of "normal" and the term has been expanded infinitely??

I spend a lot of time saying out loud 'who ARE these people??' I don't expect an answer, and the universe isn't giving up its secrets.

I would think that someone who understands pedophiles, would also have inside scoop in what they specifically look for as far as a child who will be easier to groom than others, and ways to do it.

You can hear that stuff all day long from the cops, or specialists in treating abuse victims, and the abuse victims themselves, they don't have the complete inside story from the perspective of the pedophile.

And I agree, I'm not googling for further information because the web can be a dark and rotten place.

I guess so, I understand what you are saying. Being a criminal justice major has a component here when that is what this individual studied. But then of course, we had to push that envelope...

Do you think the transgender thing is just an unfortunate coincidence? Just bad optics? Can one be so totally and completely tone deaf that they have no idea how this looks to the outside world? That's where a hyper stoked ego takes over, IMNSHO.

And.that.BOOK. I have no inclination to read it to prove a point to myself or others, but if that person is down with the jargon associated with that ****show of a link I provided ("MAPs" - Christ on a bicycle they even have a flag OF COURSE ), then they are complicit in promotion of the ideas behind it. And those thoughts occupy their thought processes also.

Working to de-stigmatize something means whatever it is that has been stigmatized has your support to be normalized. There really is no two ways about it.

So you hire someone who thinks its ok?

This is not like hiring a reformed alcoholic.

No, I wouldn't hire them.

I would, though, be interested in hearing the insights this person brings to the table for this Johns Hopkins project, and whether there are things that person has to say that haven't been heard before by others who are trying to keep kids safe from sexual abuse.
