This is no better than other stupid rhetoric here. No one wants any weapon available to a monster. But deciding who is one is a much more nuanced endeavor wouldn't you think?

Maybe we don't need sweeping gun control laws. We don't need to take guns away from women, or from middle-aged men. There is a very specific cohort here. Why don't we concentrate on keeping guns out of the hands of young men?
The above ages cited is when Schizophrenia starts setting in for young men. But most of them get through those ages without developing mental illness. Anyway, society needs to figure out how to better detect when Schizophrenia starts to develop in very young men as well as other mental illnesses.

Years ago, our country had the will to raise the minimum wage to buy alcohol from 18 to 21. Why not do the same for buying guns?

There you go again…

Anyone who disagrees with you isn’t “normal.”

Any minute now you’ll suggest shunning anyone who supports the Second Amendment.

I doubt it. Most of them look too homely to have any girlfriends. Fortunately, about all homely guys withdraw to themselves and find other ways to enjoy their lives, such as playing video games, taking care of pets and other pastimes that don't require a girl. Most of them don't feel a need to get back violently at society for treating them so bad from bullying and rejection. Unfortunately, a few of them develop a violent mental illness.

I thought I remembered that the guns were not, in fact, locked up. We know the gun he used to kill her wasn't.

Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza's mother had taken him to psychiatrist... but STILL didn't keep guns he used in school massacre locked up

If this is true, that was a very irresponsible gun owner. Obviously no one that day deserved to be murdered by that scumbag.

Eric Harris dated and was reasonably attractive. He and Dylan Klebold looked like typical high school kids to me, certainly nothing like Adam Lanza. The Buffalo grocery store shooter looked like a typical 18 year old to me, too

The problem is that they are mental and quite possibly feel they *deserve* something better than they can attract.

I had a friend in highschool that was a little weird but just barely but for some reason was ostracized early on.

His family moved away in highschool and suddenly this quiet, 6+ foot dude was a hottie, best thing that ever happened to them.

Peer pressure and opinion keeps a lot of people from dating.

In the situation of this TX shooter, dude was straight up scary. So many missed warning signs. I mean seriously, if someone wants to flag folks like this for a 5-10 year ban from gun ownership I can work with that but there is a problem.

The problem is, he can always just buy a nice knife or drive grandmas car thru the playground. There have been mass killings at gradeschools in other countries using knives or explosives but when people post stats here they only cite guns...which isn't honest. These guys are going to use whatever is readily available, just like terrorists.

P.S. Hey, let's ban one way airplane tickets? Oh wait, they'd just buy 2 way if intent on 911 attacks for example. whomp whomp. Well ok, let's make the cockpit doors stronger....ok...that's smarter.

Because alcohol is not a right in the Constitution but guns are. Apples and oranges.

The other thing is that raising the drinking age wasn't pure will of the country but rather an item of extortion in many cases. That is, Congress saying "Do it or no highway funds.". So imagine if that attitude was taken about guns, that kind of extortion.......

The Las Vegas mass shooter was 64.
