Man do I miss his perspective. Sometimes I’d skip all the pages of scandals and just read his column.
Chicago is not alone either. One of Atlanta's mayors went to prison for racketeering. New Orleans is grand level corrupt (so is Louisiana as a whole). Baltimore is so corrupt, there were police officers looting during the 2015 riots.
My father is a Milwaukee native, but he has some family in Chicago. He's familiar with the corruption, as well as other stuff that went on in Chicago.
I thought about Mike Royko because of what he said about Chicago's political machine. He mentioned that alot of it was ethnic-based. I think he quipped about rival ethnic blocks back in the day. Royko wrote about stuff that no one would dare try today.
I often think that the corruption in Chicago has alot to do with machine politics. And now I am thinking about how such corruption was mentioned in the show Good Times (Alderman Davis).
Pull up the congressional and alderman maps of Chicago and you'll readily see it's still ethnically based.
You try to write Royko stuff today and you'd likely be fired. The media is just aligned along camps....
However, he might pick up an on-line following and be outside of the lines with his own show and there are those out there like Joe Rogan, whom will tread on toes on both sides of the aisle....or Howard Stern.

every. single. one. of the mayors of DC, Chicago, LA, NO, etc. of a major size city broke the law via corruption going back 100+ years.
Some better than others but it's like asking someone to swim in a cesspool without getting poo on them. Some try to stay on the surface, others dive deep...
You should have seen the number of masked, terrified covidian zombies wandering around.
That city is infested with brain dead degenerates and their leadership choices don’t surprise me in the least.
